January 7 is National Tempura Day!
I love me some tempura, but I have never made it myself. So, armed with all the power of Pinterest and a shopping list, I bought half the produce section at our local supermarket. Because you can tempura anything.
Making tempura is ridiculously quick and easy. The only thing that takes a while is waiting for the dang oil to heat up. Then, you get to take all the healthy stuff you bought, coat it with your flour mixture, and deep-fry all the healthiness out of it. Just kidding. Kind of.
Despite the marginal health benefits, the tempura turned out really good. It was the perfect accompaniment to chicken katsu and rice, and was lekker with dipping sauce.
